Annual
meeting 2006
The 12th annual meeting of the
Vision Research Network will be held in room K-500
of the Roger-Gaudry Pavillon (i.e main building)
at the University of Montreal on October 20 2006,
from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Members will present
the results of their research. Moreover we will
have the following invited speaker:
Invited speaker: Serge G. Rosolen, DMV, Ph.D.
Title: il et vieillissement chez l'animal.

Doctor Rosolen is first and foremost a veterinary
ophthalmologist who practices at the Clinique
Vétérinaire Voltaire, Asnières,
France. However, is interest in research pushed
him to obtain a doctorate in Pharmacology at the
Université René Descartes-Paris
5 under the supervision of Yves Courtois. His
knowledge of ophthalmology and pharmacology allowed
him to join l'Unité INSERM U-592 (Laboratoire
de Physiopathologie Cellulaire et Moléculaire
de la rétine, Institut de la Vision, Paris,
France ; équipe 5 : explorations fonctionnelles
de la rétine), where he is both a veterinary
ophthalmologist and senior investigator. His skills
make him a highly desired consultant among pharmaceutical
laboratories in France and Europe. Doctor Rosolen
has just been elected president of the International
Society for Ocular Toxicology. Finally, doctor
Rosolen has recently been named member of the
prestigious Académie Vétérinaire
de France.

Annual meeting 2005
The members of the Vision Research
Network are invited to the 11th annual meeting
that will be held March 6 at the Hôpital
Ste. Justine in the Justine Lacoste Auditorium,
the posters and the meal will be at the Marcelle
Lacoste room.
Members who wish to present their results may
do so orally or by poster. As mentioned with
your grant notification, we expect that members
(both professors and students) who received
grants from the Network should present the state
of their work. The same holds true for the winners
of the Vision-Network prize.
Best doctoral student prize:
This year, special attention will be paid to
students who are the end of their doctorate.
Students should have submitted their thesis
or be on the verge of doing so (within the next
year). Interested parties should submit an abstract
(of all their work) for an oral presentation
(following the style of a thesis defence), a
CV, and a letter from the thesis supervisor
stating the submission or imminence of submission
of the thesis. Submission death line is February
24, 2006.
As per previous years, students coming from
outside of the greater Montréal area
may receive a travel stipend.
